Profile |
|
I started judo when I was 8 gaining my black belt at the age of 19. During my competitive career I have held National Junior and Senior titles, the last being BJA Master champion at –81kg. A former competitive 5th Dan, in 2007 I was presented with my 6th Dan at the British Open by BJA Chairman Densign White and BJA President George Kerr the photograph of this presentation is proudly displayed on the wall at home! This award came primarily for International achievements in refereeing, selected by the IJF for 2007 Senior World championships. I am an international referee representing Britain at European and World Championship level. I am employed by the British Judo Association as a Schools Development Coach for the Eastern area, responsible for setting up sustainable Judo clubs within schools. I am a fully qualified Senior Club Coach (Level 3) and a Senior Examiner for the Association. During my coach training I have completed various courses including a Good Practice and Child Protection in Sport Course. I have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check Certificate completed dated 14 Feb 2011, which will be available at all sessions along with other coaching certificates should anyone wish to view them. |

Started refereeing in 1995, achieving International Judo Federation (IJF) Continental ‘B’ licence in Paks, Hungary in 2001, passing the IJF International ‘A’ licence examination in Budapest February 2006. I refereed 5 Senior European championships 2005—2010 and 3 Junior World championships. Aside from many European championships and World cups, the highlights have been making judo friendships around the world; refereeing in Japan, China, South Korea, Brazil and the Dominican Republic. Standing in the middle in charge of the -90kg Senior World championship final in Rio de Janerio 2007, with the match being decided by a Yuko in the Golden Score was special!
